Located in the heart of Los Angeles on S Sepulveda Blvd, The Bagel Factory is a beloved local destination for authentic bagels and breakfast delights that cater to discerning palates seeking a true New York-style experience. Specializing in freshly baked bagels and wholesome breakfast and brunch options, this kosher-friendly eatery elevates the humble bagel to an art form, serving up vibrant flavors and comforting classics with a welcoming neighborhood vibe.
The Bagel Factory’s menu is a treasure trove for bagel enthusiasts and brunch lovers alike. With an array of bagels including the Everything Bagel, hearty Rye Bagel, and sweet Blueberry, each has that distinctive crisp, slightly crunchy exterior achieved through traditional boiling, balanced by a dense, chewy interior—a textural harmony hard to find outside New York’s finest bagel shops. The variety extends beyond traditional rounds to Minis, Bagel Chips, and even Bagel Bites, satisfying every craving from a light snack to a filling meal.
One of the standout highlights is their Bagel Sandwich, freshly assembled with high-quality extras like silky smooth homemade cream cheese, vibrant spinach, and rich lox, delivering a perfect balance of tangy, salty, and savory notes in every bite. The Lox Package is a particular crowd-pleaser, featuring premium smoked salmon paired with capers and egg whites for a nourishing and sophisticated start to the day. Complement your meal with flavorful salads—Garden, Tuna, Pasta, or sweet Fruit Salad—that speak to a commitment to fresh, thoughtful ingredients.
The dining atmosphere at The Bagel Factory is unpretentious and cozy, with a lived-in, local charm that invites you to relax and savor the moment. As one patron, Brian Won, put it, it has a “comforting if decidedly no frills” feel, which perfectly encapsulates the experience: here, the focus is on delivering solid, quality bagels and friendly service without unnecessary fuss. Efficiency is another hallmark, as Jordan Gamache noted, even larger orders are prepared swiftly without compromising taste or presentation.
Though some customers, like Brad K who brings a highly critical New York bagel perspective, find subtle differences in texture and dryness, many others, including Alexandra Smith and Alan M Solomon, celebrate The Bagel Factory’s consistency, freshness, and competitive pricing. The shop’s commitment to kosher preparation means you won’t find meat options like bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches, but the egg and dairy combos are thoughtfully crafted to satisfy cravings in their own right.
Whether you’re on the go and grabbing a quick takeout, looking for a relaxed breakfast, or craving a satisfying brunch, The Bagel Factory stands out as a genuine gem in LA’s bustling bagel scene. It invites you to taste the comforting nostalgia of New York’s bagel tradition while embracing the fresh flavors and welcoming atmosphere of a local favorite.
For those seeking a balanced combination of tradition, quality, and neighborhood warmth, The Bagel Factory is more than just a bagel shop—it’s a morning ritual that captures passion for perfect bagels and honest, delicious food.
Disclaimer: As a jew who just moved here after living in NYC for 10 years, my bagel standards may be higher than most. The bagels here (i had WholeWheat ET & Blueberry) are fine, but inferior to most shops back home. They have a bit grittier, drier feel. Maybe the water? Also be aware these guys are fully kosher, and do not serve meat - no BEC here! The only cheese they have for your egg & cheese is mozzarella. They do have all sorts of smoked fish and schmear (cream cheese) I would be back to try their tuna on a bagel, and the pizza bagel looked interesting as well. Otherwise, if you are seeking quality NYC-style bagels, i would keep searching.
Made fresh daily, the bagels here are incredible! The homemade cream cheese is so good and the breakfast sandwich was really, really good. The staff was also so efficient, and even though we ordered a relatively larger order, it only took a few minutes for us to get our food.
Solid if slightly generic place for bagels, with a rather local, lived-in feel that's comforting if decidedly no frills. Still, decent seating, tasty bagels, and quality cream cheese. Sometimes that's all you need!
Very good bagel! Have been comparing bagels around town and this is one of the best real bagels around (not bread rolls disguised as bagels). Slight crisp/crunch exterior from the boiling, good density and chewiness, slightly sweet dough flavor. Quick service, even with 3 people ahead of me with pretty complicated and long orders, and good price. Will definitely return!
Great variety of bagels, all fresh in early AM. Including kids' favorite: rainbow bagels. Quick in and out. Prices are reasonable - no bargain- for very fresh baked goods.
As an avid fan of NJ/NY bagels, I greatly enjoyed my bagel from the Bagel Factory. It was perfectly toasted and the veggie cream cheese was neither too light nor too heavy. They used corn meal to prevent the bagel from sticking, but it did not distract from the taste. I recommend!
